After reading this book you may never want to keep up with the Joneses again. You'll be keeping up with the more financially-restrained Munneys while reading Power Spending, which offer its readers a cash management survival guide to help them make the absolute most of every dollar they earn.

Power Spending is a great read - I had the chance to review it prior to publication because the authors cited TheBudgetBabe.com in Chapter 5 (p.69). No gimmicks, just practical advice to help you make the most of your money and avoid common shopping pitfalls.

An excerpt from the Bankruptcy Canada website by Doug Hoyes, Bankruptcy Trustee and owner of MoneyProblems.ca.

This book is full of practical financial advice. Lot's of book talk about theories, and explain complicated budgeting systems that no-one could ever implement in real life. That's not a problem with this book; everyone who reads it will find dozens ofpractical tips they can implement in real life, immediately.

That doesn't surprise me, because two of the authors, Eric and Robin Poulin, are the Co-Founders Calendar Budget, the online personal finance tracking and planning tool that makes managing money easy.

The first section starts with basic economic survival, and discusses household budgeting, emergency planning, credit and debt, and how to save money.

The second section is on Advanced Power Spending, and includes chapters on how to save money on your food bill (and since everyone eats, this should help everyone), and chapters on saving money on entertainment, travel, and even partying!

An excerpt taken from Yakezie, by Barbara Friedberg.

From the moment I unpacked this book and gave it a quick once over, I was elated. Not the reaction one would expect from a personal finance book. But this book is FUN. It's colorful and well-organized with personal anecdotes, related websites, cartoons, and highlighted tips on every page. Additionally, the information is well laid out, very useful with reader tips in every section.

You will learn something new and have fun in the process! In fact, follow one or two of the recommendations and you'll easily make back the purchase price of the book.

Power Spending is comprehensive in scope and covers much more than spending. Don't let the clever titles and bright graphics fool you, the book is loaded with substance. From Basic Economic Survival, to Advanced Power Spending, there is something for everyone.
